"We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box."
Robert Fulghum
Morning Routine
8:15 - 9:00: Arrivals and Morning Work
No matter what time you arrive, please complete these steps
- Review the Wall Calendar for the day's events
- Begin with seat work (assignment on your desk or noted on board)
- If you have been absent, this is also a good time to catch up on missing work.
9:00 - Prepare for Morning Classes
- At 9 am, put completed seat work in green tray, place incomplete morning work in your book bin (shelf near bulletin board)
- Next, remove your laptop from the charging station and bring it to your desk.
- Fill out your planner using Google Classroom and/or Gmail...recording homework, quizzes etc.
- Plug your laptop in the charger whenever you leave class (ET, lunch, PE, etc.)
Afternoon Routine
Preparing for Afternoon Classes
- When students go to lunch, close computers and plug them into charging stations.
- Put any completed work into the turn in tray (make sure your name is on it)
- Leave your work area neat and orderly. Your desktop should be clear of papers, laptop, etc.
Preparing for Tomorrow
- Put any completed work into the turn in tray (make sure your name is on it)
- Put any classwork packets inside your desk, keep them neat.
- At 2:20 pm, put your laptop in the wire rack and connect it to the charger.
- Remove any unfinished morning work from your bin and work on it until your name is called for transportation (or you can chose to work on make-up work or homework.)
Other Classroom Details
- Each student is responsible for charging their laptops overnight whether they leave them at school or take them home.
- Students should be extra careful with food and liquids around laptops.
- Also, when we are doing science experiments drinks and food should be put away. I wouldn't want you to accidentally touch science materials and then put something in your mouth tainted with science "chemicals."
- Circumstances at SEAL sometimes mean that students are pulled from class or turn in work late. If you miss a due date, check your book bin or Google classroom and simply turn in the work the next day.
- If you finish your work early...there are plenty of "extension" activities in the room for you to do.
- If you need time during the school day to make up work, there will be time during the day (2:00 - 2:30) to catch up on class assignments or finish morning work.
- From time to time, we need a break, requests made at reasonable times will be honored. However, remember too many breaks might cause additional stress or anxiety if you fall too far behind.
